Bought in 1989 by the movement to replace the previous location (Saint Theoffrey), Every year la Servagère hosts the summer camp in July. With its exceptional environment and numerous facilities it is the ideal place for a camp, while the layout of the house and the hosting capacity makes it an excellent place for congresses or group retreat.

Calm and beauty in the Vercors

At the heart of the parc naturel régional du Vercors, in the north of the Coulmes area, la Servagère benefits from its splendid environment. The magnificent landscape is dominated by the surrounding mountains while numerous footpaths around the area (turned into ski tracks in winter) allow opportunities to discover the diverse flora and fauna.

The area's isolation and calm encourages thought and meditation. The nearest village is Malleval, three miles away, martyr of the French resistance.

The Servagere is, however, easy to access, being between Valence and Grenoble.
The TGV train station of Valence is one hour's drive away, the Grenoble station a
little further away.

In the Vercors the roads are of good quality and can be accessed by coach (through Saint Pierre de Cherennes). The last section of road was entirely relaid in 2001.

The terrain

The site covers nineteen hectares, but most of the facilities are gathered around the central building. There are also flat areas for tents, a football pitch, basketball court, and volleyball ground. There is also a large meadow ideal for big games and gatherings.

The buildings

La Servagère has three permanent buildings: the old chapel, the new church, and the house. The Church, entirely covered with frescoes, can host all the people on site together at one time. The house, 1100 m2 under roof, is entirely fitted to host large groups, with a big fitted kitchen, a laundry, a cold room, and plenty of new sanitary installations (20 showers, 20 WCs, 60 sinks.) The house also has several rooms of various sizes, including two large rooms where conferences can be held. Thanks to numerous smaller rooms the house is also suitable for more reduced groups (these include a library, an infirmary, a craft room, a large dining room, an office, and a 'phone box'. Work has been recently done to upgrade the house to the prescribed standards of hygiene and safety.

Comfortable accommodation

The site can accommodate 200 people in tents. There are two type of tents: large blue ones with a metal frame, and square ones with a central mast. People sleep in beds with mattresses and pillows. A lot of blankets are also available.
